Bottle help please.......

Found in saltwater river......This little bottle / jar has "Pecks" on the bottom. any idea what would have been in it / use?

A google searches for "pecks bottle" and "pecks jars" yields a bunch of stuff for you to ponder.

Thank-you - I thought maybe Pecks was a bottle maker - seems they did make meat / fish paste etc -
