I wonder if one could, or has ever, just gone to the central hub for Brinks, Loomis, Garda or whoever and just ask on the spot to buy boxes from them directly?! lol

Yes, you can. I think it is like 400-1200 a month, and they'll deliver it right to you. I know of someone who was going to do it...
