From an old cellarhole site. It's painted brass. I can make out France 64 on one side of the center hole. And what looks to be an anchor and the letter "D" on the other side. My first thought was spectacles but I don't get the center hole? Thanks for lookin! Any and all wags welcome..'course BCH will probably nail it in 10 mins ;D Jerry

That would be my guess as well.

The anchor and the center hole seem pretty indicative of a naval set of binoculars.

Actually , due to the small size of the piece, it's even more indicative of a lorgnette or opera glasses of which France produced many in the late 1800's early 1900's. Anchor mark is just a makers mark , nothing military.

Thanks for all the input guys! I have to go with 72 Cheyenne's original post as being the most logical id. Clovis 97 your stereo viewer has a very similar design for the lense frame and Diggummup thanks for the picture of the opera glasses. Anybody think the "64" stamp may date the item? Jerry
