I found this at an old homestead site. It appears to be solid brass and something is broken off of the curved end. The curved end appears to be factory-made. A die-tapped hole is near the "buckle" end. Possibly tack of some kind? All opinions of what it is are greatly appreciated.

Also found was a nice 1880 Indian Head penny, and a brass shell casing marked W R A Co. .38-55 (not 56) I have only begun to pick this site and I am having fun. Thanks, Subterranean

Thank you Kuger and Chrisplay2004,

Sounds absolutely correct. I found an old harness buckle too in the same area. Good ol' pre-motorized-tractor days! Much appreciated. Subterranean
