Brass Lid?

I found this brass "lid" at an older house (1890s) site last week. I has "ears" that fold around on the back. Stamped brass.

Hopefully someone will recognize that lady on the front.

There is a square hole (square nail maybe) in it, which makes me think it might be older.

Wow that's nice Tom. It almost looks like a woman cradling her baby in the first picture. The holes punched in the top are intriguing though.

Agree. Maybe a mother & child brooch. Popular at the turn of the 20th C.
