Metal Detecting
Good evening everyone!!
I went out after work today and went detecting where an old early 1900s railway station used to be. I had a high signal and about 8 inches down I pulled this lock. Does anyone know around about the age of it? All it looks to have on it is a number 1 and the letter F. Also found a couple of other unknown objects and a lantern knob maybe. Thanks for looking!

Nice Lock!
It looks similar to a Slaymaker-Barry example on this page:

Reading about Slaymaker, it looks like a late 1800's company.

(Side note: I found a lock from Safe Padlock Co., listed on that same page. I was told by an expert on Facebook that they were made between the 1870s and early 1900s. Casey, if yours is a Slaymaker and that company started in 1888, your lock is probably 1890s vintage).

Wow!! Thank you Brian!
That looks to be the same design lock in the link you provided. It makes sense because that railway station was built in the 1890s.
Thank you so much for putting in the time to provide this information.
