Found near area where old military operations occurred. Solid piece of metal. Before I toss a possible projectile shell into the trash…..any ideas or confirmation?

Oh yeah. I can see that. I’ll start researching that

I've found 2 or 3 similar pieces and have never been able to identify them. Smooth brass, rounded like yours and broken like yours.

Maybe it’s some type of "blow out" piece that prevents a worse type of rupture for a pipe under pressure? Kind of like the old fashioned engine freeze plug? (I know that is a disc shape). I just mean in concept, maybe it was meant to rupture away from a pipe, therefore it gets found bent and broken….

Ah well…..back to the drawing board!
