Brass & Plastic Container

I bought this at an estate sale where there a lot was of old tools and other old stuff. The clear plastic cylinder is 2 3/4" tall, there is a metal reflector that goes inside, the brass bottom and top push on with rubber o-rings. There is no writing on any of the parts.

maybe an old fuel filter?

I think that DCMatt is right.

I don't see an "in" and an "out" which is what you would need in a filter (not to mention the filter media)......maybe a sediment bowl? It would have to be something that was not pressurized as I don't see any way for the unit to stay together if there was pressure.
