Found in a 1860-1880ish site, near what I think may be a section of gun barrel. The “barrel” was clearly iron but rang up with a mid range tone which makes me wonder if it was picking up a round ball inside ...it’s an octagonal section of “pipe” with a blockage in it... anyway been wondering if this other brass thing is related

The other thing that has me thinking possible gun is the similarity to the trigger guard that came with my long rifle kit

Or maybe I’m too hung up on gun parts to see what it really was, any help is appreciated.

Was cleaning and reorganizing my office, noticed another piece I had found before, now I’m not thinking gun… but I really don’t know now and to answer an earlier question the hole is threaded.
