✅ SOLVED Need help identifying this Victorian era brass thing

So I recently detected a use to be farm that’s on a pretty historic corridor. The item I found is definitely Victorian era and brass. It’s pretty tiny and it has 2 swinging plates. Sadly both of the metal rings fell off. Any idea what it is? It has the same design on the back.

See, I’m still figuring that out. But from my research, jewelry boxes warp from moisture. They were made of soft wood. So the metals on them were made thin enough to warp with the wood instead of breaking it. That’s where this relic comes in I’m pretty sure. Instead of having one complete piece. It’s articulated so it can move with the wood while still keeping the lock straight. Obviously this isn’t 100% since I’ve never seen anything like this, but yeah.

Oo bro 😭. It’s so hard determining what things are. That’s what makes it fun. It looks 💯 like it could go a Victorian belt or some type of jewelry that hangs.
