Hi,

I found this buried in some rubble behind my studio yesterday. It's about 2" wide. Someone suggested it was a bridle rosette, but any ideas as to how old it is? It looks like it had some gold gilding at one point, and there's a very thin layer of (silver?) metal on both the front and the back. I know because it's peeling off a bit at the edges.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

this looks like yours and is said to be a compact. this image must have been very popular as it's all over the web.

Nice find!!

Thanks! I'm in Wilmington NC, which is a very old town, for America. It just caught my eye as I was taking the trash out behind my building- I thought it was a very large bottlecap...
