Broken Piece of Silver

[PA Sleuth]

It is very thin, monogrammed with a cursive "L", stamped with a hallmark of OWEN, found in an area where I have dug 15 coppers, early American, some KG's. I am not a hallmark expert, any help on the maker or what the piece may have belonged to would be great.

Looks a lot like one of the marks (I.Owen) on this page, which lists it in the early 1800's: American Silver Marks O2 - Online Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks & Makers' Marks
You mentioned it being quite thin, which much of the coin silver flatware of that era were, and which is what John Owen (the mark listed above) made.

You nailed it, upon further inspection there is definitely an I or J before the OWEN. Thanks

I found one of these too. Wish I knew what they were. Mine is stamped as well.
