image.webpimage.webpCan anyone id these for me ? Trying to find out the age of them and also is this a military buckle ?? Thanks

The buckles style screams colonial.I would say your lock is too.Allot of stuff they made in those days seems to be more ornate then the 19th century stuff, like your lock. That"s all I can really say.excellent finds!

Is the buckle plated, or solid brass?

It looks to be plated, and the edges look a little too crisp to be as old as colonial. Also looks to be rusted at the edges.

Could be colonial, but I'd say it is more likely from a mid-century Santa Suit.

Good eye, didn't notice the plating on it.I still think it is somewhat early.

I suspect your padlock isnt a lock but a decorative piece.I am not an expert...but that piece was prolly not a lock at all.I'm looking into what it actually was.

cheers

all I can say is that if I found it I would prolly make an appt.at a local university or museum to find out how old.Of course I would have found it in my own yard or in a box from a yard sale.It is a very cool find and I am envious.

Wow I found a buckle just like that yesterday. It's a double not a triple like yours. The site I have been digging has given many colonial era coins and relics

I know your post is a little older....but was going through some older ones. If your haven't found any info on your padlock, I can tell you it's known as a scroll lock. Produced somewhere between 1880's and 1900.
