I found this buckle today in Salt Lake City. I'm not really familiar with buckles but it looks to have a harp and a wreath surrounding it.
It is heavy and made of Brass, I'm hoping that it is Civil War. It measures 2" by 3 1/8".
Sorry about the pic but I took it with my camera phone.
Any info appreciated!

excellent find, places stuff shows up amazes me and just encourages me that
a "find" could be anywhere. Congrats and welcome to the house

Welcome What a great buckle way to go :o ;D ;D ;D ;D

Did you find this in the city? There was an article a few years ago in one of the treasure mags about a group that was detecting some fill dirt that had been removed from the University area that was part of Ft. Douglas. The fill was being removed in preparation for the Winter Olympics. The construction company, the University and the Olympic organizers would not let anyone in to the site to detect. Some smart fellers found out where the fill was being taken and asked to detect at that location. Lots of good finds.

Great find and HH.

It is a military musicians belt plate. I would say late 1800's. Possibly civil war era. Great find either way definately worth some bucks. ;D Check out this link http://www.civilwarpreservations.com/catdet.asp?TargetItem=CHR362&CategoryType=relics
