Found in a field...many early to mid 1800 items from the same location. Could be older as there had been homes there as early as 1720...any ideas?

It is fashioned like a sling holder for a musket, but I believe it is too ornate for that purpose.

My personal conclusion would be a drawer pull from a dresser.
