Multi functional buckles mainly were on the backs of trousers....much very interesting conversation in the past :laughing7:

They were to take up the slack of the waist,with a small piece of cloth

Here is another photo showing a "non-excavated" 1850s/60s pants waist adjuster strap buckle, shown on the pants.

Somebody will probably tell ya,its a suspender buckle but I have never seen a suspender strap 1" wide,or even could see one being much smaller than an 1 1/2 wide,much smaller would dig into your shoulder

yeah,yeah thats the ticket.....when did they stop useing those lil sharp points on the buckles?

I don't know when they stopped with the points, but I do know most are colonial era.

yeah I think, out of all that I have found,those two are in the best shape.....
