✅ SOLVED Bullet Cartridge ID Needed

I found this bullet in a rural area where there was a lot of maneuvers for WWII. I do not know if this is something that would have been used then or not. I have never seen a cartridge like this before. It is about 2.5" in length and the lead is close to .30 caliber. It has a full metal jacket and it has been fired but the bullet just barely moved out from the casing. I can make out some of the letters on the rim MKII AIPA S3 8 ?? I showed a guy at work that reloads and shoots a lot, and it has him stumped as well. I only know common rounds of ammunition, so I need help from the experts. Thanks, David

This really has me stumped too. There is nothing even close to it my reloading manuals. The strangest part is the case head. I have never seen one that thick or shaped liked that. I don't think its somebodys homemade wildcat cartridge because of the markings on the head. My best guess would be an experimental cartridge. I'll keep looking tho. Hopefully somebody knows something about it.

I am looking now on a web site that has rare and experimental cartridges, and I have not found anything close. The shape of the case is so different than all other ammo. Thanks for looking skeeterd.

Ok, I went with a hunch, and what I suspect is that you have a British made MK 2 primer for an artillery shell that for some strange reason has a bullet jammed in the end. I had a hard time tracking down a picture of one, and when I did the page is in Spanish..... Anyway, go to this link, and scroll down about 3/4 of the way and you'll see this

Hi. We made things like this in the Army about 1960. Called them swagger sticks. Here's mine, made from a 90mm cannon primer stuck into a 50 BMG shell with the bullet in front. Guess lots of guys made things like this, in various Armys. Just my 2 cents worth

Yeah it's an interesting relic for sure. I'd love to be able to know the story behind it.
