Came across a first for me today while on the claim. Stepping over a larger dead fall I noticed this round shape covered in moss on a smaller dead fall tree. After cleaning the moss off what a nice surprise to find a baseball size knotty burl sanded smooth by mother nature.

I don't think I've ever seen anything like that.
Amazing!

You going to turn it down in to something? Looks like enough to make a trinket box or cup?. I've never found a burl of any significant interest. Yours is a nice specimen as it is and best to leave it alone, I'm thinking. Looks like North American burl pieces still have some good value. This one reminds me of Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. It's a masterpiece of nature.

Thanks tamrock....and awesome picture by Vincent Van Gogh, I can see the knot resemblance. I'm an original is better so this piece will not have any thing done to it and appreciated for what it is...
