I searched around a former home site yesterday for a couple hours. I found a bunch of shotgun shells, a 1904 Indian head penny, and an Everall Brothers button from New York. After hitting the snooze button on my phone alarm a couple times to delay the inevitable, I started swinging my way back to the trail telling myself I only had time to dig high tones. As luck would have it, I got a nice deep sounding high tone with a jumpy VDI of 29 - 30. I dug my hole and found this Draped Bust cent. These coins were minted between 1796 and 1807. This coin has seen better days, but I am still happy to have found it. I wanted to clean it up a bit, but even a gentle tooth picking was removing the delicate patina. The date is gone too, so I will just assume it is the ultra rare 1799😁. Happy hunting!

Fantastic! Finding a coin of that age and in that condition would make my year! Well done!

Very nice!
Congrats on saving a piece of history.

Great find! Reverse in pretty good shape. I found a 1796 with visible date but on reverse you cannot see the 1/100 at all. That coin could be 226 years old!

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!

Yeah Buddy - nice one ! :occasion14:

Sweet find. Yes, too bad the date is gone. But it does still have some detail.

Thanks! You sure found an old one. I was real curious to see it, so I looked up your older threads. I found your 1796 Draped Copper post, but the photo had been removed. Oh well. I’ll make sure to check out your next one👍.

Thanks for sharing. That is a real nice coin, especially the obverse; great detail.
