I realize that there is very little detail on this button but can anyone give a possible age? I am thinking late 1700's through early 1800's. There is script on the back as well as a circle around the shaft but that is all that I can make out. It is approximately .75 of an inch in diameter. The front is completly degraded. Thanks for looking.

I'd say early 1800's, or about the same time frame as some of the other one-piece buttons that you've posted. Is that "GILT" from about 12:00 to 3:00?

I know there is or was something on the back of the button but I cannot read it now...probably gilt...
