Button from a late civil war battlefield

I found this silver button with an iron eyelet around some bullets I could identify, but I am not too good about buttons. It says A. Matthews on the back. Thanks for any ideas.

Its not an iron shank by a copper-alloy that has redden. Its a Civilian button early 19th C

Many thanks for the info. I am in no way complaining but I just wanted to say that a magnet says there is something ferrous in there. I wonder what this buttoned up. Comes from the site of a mostly cavalry battle.

Unless they were using a 30 year old button I think it unlikely it had anything to do with the CW
