War of 1812 2nd Regiment Artillery Super find! :icon_thumright: MM, I believe what you think is a number up with the RA is nothing more than the curlyque Script of the R. The 2 should be inside an oval. If so, it is an Albert's AY33.

Looks good to me. I don't know much about rev. war relics but that's a beautiful button. :thumbsup:

It really doesn't look pewter to me but if it is you will need to seal it soon as pewter will continue to deteriorate. I too have my fingers crossed. :wink:

Thanks Don and everyone else for your replies. I'm not sure of the metal, i just assumed it was pewter because of the deterioration. Now that i look at it again, the number i thought i saw before the lettering could just be pitting. There is a 2 inside a circle like you described under it. Is there a link showing an example of this type?
