Looks like a mid1900's clothing button to me

My impression is the same. Backmark would be nice but that's not going to happen. :D

Some one else found one and posted just the other day. Its called "shield with ruffle" and Waterbury lists it as a fashion button.

If you think 2 people finding the same button is strange, last year I was hunting a field in the Netherlands and found a hammered copper coin. After cleaning it up, it was identified on the Dutch forum as a 1592 Friesland O. I thought it looked familiar for some reason. I looked back through my photos of unidentified coin finds and there she was. The exact same coin from a place I hunt on Edisto Island south of Charleston, SC. Now that is spooky.
