Button ID help?

Can anyone confirm an ID on this button? The backmark appears to be Brooks Brothers New York but it's fairly corroded. Thanks for looking!!

I did my best googling and came up with nothing. I have faith that someone here will come up with something....

The letters appear to be CNSS. I saw a thread with a similar button that suggested it could be a Canadian National Steamship crew button. It was never confirmed though. Still looking with no luck....
