Button ID please Scovill Waterbury

It says "SCOFILL MF'G CO WATERBURY" It has a circle of dots in the middle inside of the printing. There are no other marks such as stars. It is maybe 1 or 2 mm bigger than a US nickel. I tried to research it myself but it got very confusing. I would really like to know the date it was used. I found it in an area with a lot of houses built around 1915.

Looks like a us army great seal button to me! 1852-1941

I think your U.S. Army "Great Seal" button with remains of the black finish dates from 1910-1923. The Great Seal button was introduced in 1902 and is still in use. They were gilt or black from 1910-1917, black only from 1917-1923 and gilt thereafter. From 1902-1910 there was no rim on the button. That rim was added in 1910. Here's a picture of the rimless variety.
