Hey!

Found this relic in the middle of a field in south Louisiana close to New Orleans. A 1775 real was also found in this field.

It is very heavy, and hit by a plow a number of times.

Would love as much help and info identifying this piece as you all can give.

My first thought was early button. On the back side there is a "break point" to where a shank would have been. Maybe?

Check it out and let me know!

Thanks!

Way too big to be a button... The size appears to be about that of a bridle rosette. However rosettes are usually attached on one side and decorated on the other.
