Went back to where I found the silver ring yesterday, it is also the same spot I pulled a silver Rosie for my first silver of the year. The field is less than 10% searched and just missed silver with a '65 Washington, but I did get this button. If my ID is correct and this is an Omega shank it dates from 1800 to mid 1900's, so I'll gladly take it.

Definitely looks old. Huge shank!

Actually that is just the angle of the picture. The button, when put on Roosevelt's head(dime), still leaves the hair and neck uncovered, it's a pretty small button.

Very nice find! Congrats! That spot has produced one nice finds for you.

Design on the button reminds me of a tortious shell.

I've never heard of an 'Omega shank' but if you mean the shape then its been slightly squashed thats all. Not saying it isn't 1800s though.
