This seems like a dandy button but it has no shank at all
It was gold plated at one time but is copper
You can tell because I hit it with the shovel
It was dug at a site in the woods where I have found late 1700s relics to 1950s junk
At first I thought it was a large cent until I saw the gold plating
What do you think?

looks like a button to me.
Thanks for the reply
That’s what I’m leaning towards
It was just the lack of any shank that got me thinking
I mean where there would be a shank is gold plated????

The gold looking spot is where the shank was soldered or brazed into position
Hit right on the head, exactly what is.
