button that needs identified

Can someone tell me what kind of button this is and from what time period?
I found it in my back yard at about 8 inches.

What size is the button and could we see the back of it too? Sometimes it helps to post the picture alongside of a dime or quarter for size evaluation.

The backmark will help with the time period. I found one that was made by a company that went under in the 1920's. Post the backmark, and one of the experts will solve the riddle.
