Button with scratch design

I found it in the UK and it's not a design I've seen before.
Can anyone tell me more about it?

There is nothing on the back.
 

It almost looks like a home made button that was made from a shotgun shell brass. The circular depression in the middle gave me that idea.
 

Its a carved/scratched flat button done by hand,most likely by the owner not manufacturer. Cool find.

I found this today and I think it's one of my best finds. I've sent the images to my man at the Bristol Museum for a translation:

This type of button with a drilled shank on the reverse are 17th C, some creep into the 18th.

That incised coin is very cool!
