Buttoning up the season

Scrappy · Dec 5, 2015

Did a morning reconnaissance mission for a rev. skirmish site. Obviously we didn't hit it. My favorite is the "extra imperial gilt" button. Interestingly enough four of the buttons were labeled gold or had gold gilt.

I was hoping for more but I'm a firm believer a site chooses what you're going to find on a hunt.

Enjoy

The one looks like it has something on it, still an ok dig. Then again digging at this time of the year is a winner.

Gridwalker306 · Dec 5, 2015

Glad to see you got out, and snagged some cool stuff. What are the little rivet things top left? I find these sometimes not exactly sure what they are.

Nice group of keepers. Old buttons are always nice to find.

kingskid1611 · Dec 5, 2015

You have enough to make a new shirt. Good recoveries. Congrats!

Scrappy,

Good haul of old buttons.

Nice assortment of backmarked buttons Steve. I wonder how many different quality marks were put on the backs of these buttons? Sounds like a nice little project if I can squeeze it in :laughing7:

Sorry you didn't find the Rev war site, but at least your pulled some nice buttons.

texjim · Dec 5, 2015

Nice buttons

Inspector · Dec 5, 2015

WTG on the button finds, very nice group

Msbeepbeep · Dec 5, 2015

Still nice button diggs!
Congrats!
We dig what we dig!
Better than what I'm dig'n lately!
We should all do the happy dance for what ever we have before winter!
You luckly southern diggers!

ironhorse · Dec 5, 2015

There's an unwritten rule out there (well it's written now!)
dig enough plain buttons and the marked ones are bound to show up!
Good stuff coming

Trezurehunter · Dec 5, 2015

You have some nice looking buttons for your display case Steve.

Nepa-Will · Dec 6, 2015

Nice lot of buttons! Looks like the site chose to give you just enough to lure you back for another hunt.

Ahab8 · Dec 6, 2015

It's a numbers game buddy. You dig enough buttins and you will get some great ones. I've dug well over 100 big old flat buttons. Still no rattlesnake or GW....but it'll happen eventually....as you already have experienced

Iron Patch · Dec 6, 2015

It only takes one if it's the right one.... not sure how I know that.

I better shut up now because I can think back a few years to a slump of about 120 plain buttons and no military, which shouldn't really happen here.

That would be quite a project but priceless information to the masses, in say, and article?
Take it easy Bill

They went in the case this morning so my guests coming over this afternoon can not notice them. lol

I know. We'll go back and do more research and hopefully nail it...

Statistically I'm at zero Abe after those 4 GW buttons. Actually that puts me at friggin' negative 10,000, but who's counting anyway

Never say shouldn't. That's like talking about how there shouldn't be traffic on a road trip. Lol.
