I got a couple good signals out in my woods today, and to my surprise, I found two metal buttons.

I haven’t found any buttons on the property yet, so this is a good find for me.

(Edit: I sent a photo of the button to an expert who graciously responded with confirmation that it is indeed a
“late 1700s, civilian flat button.”

Super stoked. This pushes my dateable relic recoveries back another hundred years.

A big one with parts, and a slim one that has a fine pattern on the reverse.

If anyone knows what kinda buttons they are or which century they’re from, let me know.

Other signals from elsewhere on the farm were less interesting, yielding a wad of modern nails and a pair of pliers, among other junk. Haha. So it goes.

Buttons are always a good recovery
Congratulations

Here’s a macro of the button back, and a guide I found online. I’m inclined to think it’s the type circled, but I know nothing about buttons. If so, it’s the oldest ~dateable.~ artifact I’ve found on the farm.
