I sold a iron Betty lamp for $26.00 - then I get this email -

I received this today.
It's supposed to have an iron cap not a wooden one.Wood would burn right up.
There is also an iron tube that is inserted down into the tank to hold the wick.
Otherwise the whole thing would burst into flame..
Please send me an entire refund for this thing, including shipping both ways..
This is not anywhere close to what it should be.
It's a fire hazard.
Upon receiving the refund I will mail it back to you priority.
If you won't act on this immediately I will go through Paypal to get a full refund. Then leave a negative feedback.

before I had a chance to respond , he had all ready opened a case . It has since been resolved , But I don't like getting threats of negative feedback .
Question - If I Block him , will he Know I did ? I have not received any feedback from him yet , so I don't want to make him madder . I have never blocked anyone before .

Whew, holy smokes - that's a rattlesnake waiting to pop you, and the new ebay rules favor him. Let it go and get away from him. I have no idea about blocking repercussions. Others can provide more info.

GOOD LUCK with this....

I will say you did find a buyer that you do not want to sell to again .. And i have blocked buyers before and never had problem or any repercussions .. there is nothing they can do all that happens is ebay will not take bids from them on your account ..

I would get on the phone and call eBay, or you can report the buyer in the same place that you would leave feedback. Be proactive.

Absolutely report him for directly threatening negative feedback. That's against the rules and will greatly help your case if he decides to leave negative feedback down the road.

I know nothing about the item being described, or whether it's a fire hazard, but if you photographed/described those features in some way in the listing you can also nail him for making unreasonable demands. If there is any ambiguity in your listing as to the item's condition/safety it's on you, and best to just accept the return and report for the threatened negative feedback .

This. It's a threat. I would say. See what they tell you.

If he threatened to leave negative feedback & the threat was through the ebay message system you can absolutely have bad feedback removed. Did your pictures clearly show the wood cap? If both those things happened I'd have politely told him to send the item back & once the item got here I'd issue a refund for what he paid. I'd also tell him to pound sand on the return shipping refund. If he hadn't been stupid enough to send a threatening message I probably would have refunded shipping both ways. Definitely would block.

Sorry mojjax, sounds like you got one of the "special buyers" that we all have to deal with sometimes and dread they will pop up at any time and usually for something without cause.

Block them, add their handle to badbuyerslist.org and if you report them to scambay the buyer might hit you with a neutral or neg.

For that amount, I usually kiss their worthless butt and refund the original shipping and item costs, tell them to keep the item and hope they die in their own pile of filth.

If they live in N.Ga. let me know, I'll turf their lawn!

Feedback extortion is not taken lightly by ebay

This is the one thing about selling on ebay that I detest. There are no words to describe how much I abhor this type of buyer.

Last year, I had a buyer like that, who bought a sewing table attachment so she could trace it, and make one on her own.

Please report this buyer!!!!

I reported him on the feedback page . Ebay wrote back thanking me . I did some reverse sleuthing using his feedback number & and I found a few people he left negative feedback to . My next step is to block him . I thank everyone for your advice .

I used the report button. I think its just there to pacify angry people. I suggest you give them a call in conjunction with the button.
When I called the eBay rep was actually chuckling at my buyer. But the button didn't help my problem.

Are people actually buying these for function?

You also have to be leary of the ones that know alot about detail. They like to switch your parts with there's and then claim Item not as described. I buy and sell computers and parts and now mark them with my mark. I had 1 guy switch the ram, cpu , hard drive and dvd optical drive with his and then claimed I sent him a doa. Did my research and found he had bought the same model about 30 days before. He even went so far as to ask in pre buy questions the brands and sizes my were. Sent ebay the info and my marked pics and they sided with me gave me all my shipping(both ways) and the selling price of the laptop, and removed his bad feedback. I believe they banned him as he did this quite often.

How do you mark them. And is it a secret mark? Do you film the return?

Not secret, I use a miniture drill bit and drill 2 small holes in each cpu, hard drive, optical drive and ram stick. Items that are sold on ebay I take a pic of the marked items with that days news paper before shipping. I also take pics of all my packages before closing and after closed to have a record for damage in shipping claims due to poor packaging. Heres 3 differant replies back from a person I sold a bow to: "Dude this pep site is put in upside down who ever strung this bow is dumb you can't see the sites this is crap now I gotta spend more money to correct your **** up!! It's not cool in my book bro" #2 "I'm saying you don't know bows but this is ****** up" #3 "It looks down and can't see out the pep site son now I gotta take it to a bow shop so I'm not happy right now....so this bow has never been shoot before unlike the post you had ??? Not a happy customer brother....hunter to hunter I was buying this for my girl now I gotta do work to it not cool, you need to send me $50.00 back for my troubles" . All 3 replies within 1 hour and not one word to ebay. I replied back with pics of other peep sites and their placement. Described in listing that site needed the tubing replaced ($3.00 fix). After reading his posts you would think he was an archery expert. Anyone that shoots a bow knows the tubing tied to the site and the other string straightens it out. Haven't heard a peep out of him in 6 days. Just saying people try to get over anyway they can.
