Question on Buying AU/BU Morgan Dollars

When it comes to buying AU/BU Morgans, should I really just hard on a lightly cleaned or dipped coin? Most Morgans have been cleaned to some extent and their values really aren't very diminished. Most sites say that they are worth around 20-30% of their original value, so should I only buy at prices that are a fraction of their original value?

Don't buy a cleaned/dipped coin.... Take it from an old coin dealer...most dealers buy these sliders as AU then mark them as BU... be careful...

Most Morgans out there HAVEN'T been cleaned - most of them are BU from mint bags - millions & millions of them. Don't waste your money on cleaned coins unless you can get them @ spot. And make sure they aren't COUNTERFEIT. (As our friend on here recently learned the hard way.)

So many sat around in bank vaults not being used and were snatched up by collectors in the 50's and 60's, don't settle for a cleaned coin unless it's hard to find in a different condition.

A "slider" is a coin that appears uncirculated at first glance, but has a slight rub or wear. They are normally graded AU58 if certified. Hope that helps.
