By - Golly Let's Get a Little Colonial Then..Update Trade Ring

Went down the river today to do a little hunting.Made myself stay a dig on one site in stead of running wild.Although I did not complete this site yet as there should be more there.I was happy with the results anyway.
Broken stone ax
Buttons pewter, tobac,& two that still has clothe on them
Piece of musket funiture
Musket shot / balls all sizes
Piece of strip mold
And the neatest little colonial ring I've seen.......had to be for a baby :icon_scratch:
Take Care,
Pete, :hello:

Are you asking me???..... If so I can say that things from at least mid 1600's has came from this site being a buckle & token. Those two buttons with the clothe are out of place for this site. Most likely from a boat passing by is my guess as it's close to the water & was found down close to the waters edge. The rest falls in line with other finds for being old.I've looked for others rings on all the sites you guy's have some close but no cigar. What's your thought's.I did send it to someone to see what they thought for age have not heard back yet. Earliest from this site buckle............ token you know well everything else pewter, & mold strips, musket parts, buckles,& tombac buttons that are different then most as they are concave on the back.

I'm unsure, the glass stone is similar to cufflinks of circa 1700s:

but might be nearer 1900 :dontknow:

Re: By - Golly Let's Get a Little Colonial Then............

I think knowing the age of these buttons will tell the tale as they have been pretty much the most common find at this site.Other then the two buttons above that have clothe & purdy much know how they got there, nothing leads me toward 1800's.Just nothing found here at that time frame unless I haven't learned by now what I'm talking about. ;D

Re: By - Golly Let's Get a Little Colonial Then............

It's so amazing how that fabric lasts 200+ years in the elements. Great finds :icon_thumright:

Not them two buttons as stated above most likely from a passing boat 20th century thinking with the style of them most likely from somebodies cushion seat from the galley of a sail boat or simular. The only button I've found with any fabric that old would be the one below open work button late 18th century.
