I had h3ard about a place where people used to find bronze or gold coins by plugging or even collecting the olives. Believe me, it happens.
This was the most haunted place. I could notice some ruins and the owner of the land told me that they are the ruins of a 7th century church. The ruins were on the top of a hill and all around the hill I could find lots of human bones. It was full of bones. Anyway, I could find some nice stuff.

Lead stuff
Lead sling bullets, loom weights, lead pot ments. This pot ment is very special. The pot piece is still inside of the lead.

I couldn't have pics of the bones cause it was raining all the time but I have to turn back there as soon as I can.
For now that's all.
Thanks guys

Awesome again Vince. I believe that's a silver coin in the first and third pictures. Can you tell us anything about it? It looks really cool.

Congrats again my man!

Thanks Tom!
No mate, it is not. Probably it is the : EMPIRE OF NICAEA. Theodore I Comnenus-Lascaris (1208-1222). Trachy.
Obv: IC-XC. Christ, bearded and nimbate, seated upon throne, holding gospel.
Rev: Full lenght figure of the emperor, wearing stemma and loros, holding scepter and globe anexikakia. Manus dei above.

While the second can be : Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine FOLLIS 616-617 AD Large M #G# XP SEL ISY Seleucia Isauriae

I didn't post all the coins. This type (concave) of coins is very thin and its my first time finding them.

Congrats on the coinage and getting your first Fibular Brooch.

Thanks buddy. Someone says that it is a Visigothic type or Ostrogothic and some say its just Slavic type but on both ways it is from 6th to 7th AD.

I can see the similar styles in the Visigothic & Ostrogothic types over the Slavic types. Either way it's a very nice recovery.

Congrats Vince! That's a place dream finds come from. Such an early church is usually a sign for a way older sanctuary. To me the fibula is the top find. Gothic or slavic, we probably never see one again here if you don't dig another. Scarce because anything of this time frame is scarce.... You did very good! :icon_thumright:

I cant wait to get back there again. I'm sure there's more there. I think that the church had a big Crypt where they through the dead bodies. Because of the erosion now the bones are everywhere.

Hi Vince, I am in Bulgaria at present on business, Sliven to be exact and did not bring my metal detector. I was able to tour around and see some old ruins, the Black Sea and the local museum. Are you close to the area? I would love to see your finds! Today is terrible weather and I am actually snowed in at the hotel with about 30 cm of snow.

This is the back of the fibula.
