There are actually several building foundations in the area(the area is approx 40-50 acres). They could have been used for some type of business activity--don't think they're residential--although the bathtub indicates otherwise. This one is furthest North and off by itself. I don't know much about the area and research would be difficult and probably time-consuming. Ryan Airport is next door(about a mile away). When I originally discovered the area I was hoping it was buildings used for the training of pilots during WWII(which I'd known about). If it was, then this would be a windfall for old coins and artifacts. But alas, this hasn't proven to be the case. I don't think it was ever part of the airport.
I've been out to the area 5-6 times with the AT-Pro and found lots of copper pennies(many laying on top of the ground), some dimes, a handful of nickels, and 1 quarter. No old coins. So if I were to date the place based on that, it's probably post 1965 and pre 1982. I'm almost sure there have been several MD'ers out to the area who have cleaned it out pretty good.
Cache hunting intrigues me. I would like to find a cache some day. I guess I will bring the shovel with me next time and listen for the deep targets.
