I came across this information while I was at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn Michigan. I took some out of state family members there over the summer. Further research revealed that Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone and President Harding and their wives camped in this area. Many activities went on such as horseback riding, wood cutting contests, rifle shooting, ect. Huge crowds would gather nearby to see what they could as the "Vagabonds" rolled into town and to the camping area. There's no doubt that coins and possible silverware was left behind. This is a county park but there is private land adjacent to the park.
Perhaps with more research the actual camping spot can be located and with proper permission, someone may be able to metal detect the area and find some nice objects from the past that's associated with these legendary people. The group also camped in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Here are some links to further pique your interest.
