I love the abstract plate. The handkerchief vase, not so much. Well, not at all really!

The plate looks to be a designer piece that might well have been pricey originally. Possibly from one of the many workshops in Murano, Italy but there are a large number of possibilities. It appears to be inscribed with what are possibly a maker mark and a date, which I read as ‘BB’ (which means nothing to me) and ’96 2/5’ (either 2nd May 1996 if European or 5th February 1996 if American, although 2/5 could also possibly mean 2 of 5 as a limited series.)

The vase is not sufficiently distinctive to give an opinion on origin.

No worries. I see it now, although the base and the body are somewhat incongruous in style.
