Composed of earthen material,very heavy,has gold flakes imbedded, registers positive for gold/copper/silver by metal detector. 803-646-8154 or [email protected]
I'm having problems posting a pic,until I get issue resolved,contact me at803-341-0115 or either of the two previous contacts if you would like a pic. I was told by a friend and I believe it to be a smelting crucible.

You have a metal detector that detects the presence of gold, copper or silver? Cool. Mine just detects relative conductivity and can tell is metal is ferrous or not; but not what it is.

A picture would help.

Pottery glazes contain metal: cobalt blue, iron oxzide gives a shiny brown to a red color (copper gives an orange/red), tungsten gives white. Adding lead makes it shinier.

This is an antique jug that uses lead and iron oxide for the glaze.
