Wow. Toasty... Maybe 31mm?

If I had to guess I'd say 1927 - 36 Geo. V penny.

Very minor correction. It does appear to be a George V penny, but it's the 'small head' type which is 1928-1936 (with only a handful produced in 1933).

A final question. The coin is pretty worn, this is the rear is there a way of dating it. After magnifying it, I can make out part of a 9 and possibly part of a three.

The penny design didn’t change between 1928-1936, so it could be any of those years… apart from 1933 when fewer than ten were produced. Most experts believe only seven, of which six are accounted for, with one stolen example in unknown hands since 1970.
