Can anyone tell me anything about this?

Hi Everyone,

I found this a good while back while metal detecting a civil war battle site.
I believe it is a antique hair brett but not sure. I was told it is silver and hand
made but has no markings at all on it.
Could anyone tell me if it is a hair brett and the age and also what it is worth

I also forgot to mention at one time it had three stones in it
but they were missing when it was found.

Well it could be a brooch and judging but the claws/gem stone holders, it could be from the 1850's? possibly a bit later on in the century but the setting for what would have housed the stone looks quite old. You could take it to a jeweler and have it appraised, they would know more then i would about the age and value.

Looks to be a brooch from the 1800's. Without the stones, and being in the condition it is in, the "value" is minimal.....maybe 10-20 bucks as-is.
