While I agree in part, that is not a definitive test. If it floats, that means a substantial volume of air pockets or other voids formed during melt/freeze cycle. While this occurs frequently, it does not occur nearly all the time.

Waiting on P Nut to share his evidence.

Time for more coffee.

No... but IF it does.. this would nip this in the bud pretty quick.

Agreed that half sinks... but this was a quick idea for the OP to try at home.

I have never seen silver crack nor have I seen it with a white oxide coating, but aluminum does exhibit those characteristics most of the time.

Looks like pure unobtainium to me.

Waiting to hear what kind of metal it tested as, then the weight would be needed to know the value.

I thinks its safe to say its a glob of worthless junk metal, please mark "solved"

op is long gone...

If you buffed it up and made it real purty and glued a pin attachment on the back, you might be able to fetch a few bucks on Ebay.

Has everyone here failed to notice that this item strongly resembles a pistol? Maybe the Lone Ranger was melting it to make more bullets!:laughing7: I had to say that. And I will say this to P-NuT, welcome to the forums and learn to grow a thick skin because folks here will try to get under it. We are a big family and sometimes some of us get a little testy. It is not meant as a personal assault on you. Please continue to share your finds with us, maybe even identify something for us. Good luck on your future hunts.

You know what it is, you have evidence, yet you don't bother to tell us that, and we're supposed to tell you what it's worth?

I say a buck 2.80
