“Michael Joseph Moyerhoeffer [sic; his gravestone uses the spelling Meyerhoeffer] a widely known citizen of Rockingham, died Tuesday night [gravestone shows 27 Mar 1901, which was a Wednesday, so likely early hours of the morning] at his home at Moyerhoeffer's Store, in Ashby District.” He was both a merchant and a farmer.

Seems to have been a family business. There was also a Michael J. Meyerhoeffer III (1854-1909), and a Michael Jason Meyerhoeffer (1879-1914).

Looks like a 10¢ variety, as the Token Catalogue shows a 25¢…. Good find!
And it is counter stamped too, sweet!

Not only is it not a 25 cent token, it doesn't appear to be the retailer, Moyerhoeffer.
Yes, it's a Port Republic, Va. store token.
