Hi all, I dug this today and though its pitted, its in great shape for a Michigan IH penny.
I was looking on the web at varieties and think I have an 1864-L based on the picture given to identify one.
Can someone verify my suspicions?

I hope the pic uploaded has enough detail.

Thanks,
Ran

Hi Ran.I blew it up and I dont think it has the L but I could be wrong.I have one thats in about the same condition but mine shows the L even with all the pitting...that's what makes me think yours hasent got the L.

U can tell by the bust of Indian w/out seeing L. Pointed bust = L, rounded bust = not L

Thanks for the replies, I didn't think I could be so lucky.

The botton portion of the neck, under the necklace appears to be pointed and not blunt, so it looks like the L variety to me.

Is that your website you have linked? I ask that seeing the obvious connection between your user name and the site. Looks like a lot of work went into it.

Very obvious it's a passion of yours, as it is one for me too. I tend to have my paws into just about every type of coin out there and have been doing it for quite a few years now.

PS: I don't think there's any better coin than the one in your avatar!
