MY guess, the Porche was found on the North Side while the 22 shells were found on the East side of Stockton under a 4x4 pickup? LOL.

If you check my running total, you see I'm NOT finding nickels....makes me wonder why

1 of 2 things I can come up with off hand.

your tuning them out,

Or the places your hunting have been Hammered hard by someone looking for Gold.

allot of my over hunted spots produce mainly Nickels & tabs
If your loading up on tabs & still not getting Nickels,
it's probably just luck of the draw.

Nickels seem to be the least used coin while giving and getting change.
even less then pennies

Are nickels hard to find?

Most coins on the Garretts ring in high, for me personally pennies ring in high 70s, while dimes and quarters ring in the 80s (low 80s for clad, high 80s for silver). Nickels ring in a solid 53, which is what my gold wedding band comes in at as well. Pulltabs also come in at low 50s, and 53 is low enough that coin shooters might tune that out, which would make finding it less common. Even on my BH Tracker IV nickels and gold ring in low, same as iron, which I used to ignore unless the signal was loud and consistent. I dig all repeatable 53s I see. Any wavering below 52 I ignore bc 99% of the time it's a pulltab.

Yes to a Point.
there are Less nickels Lost, & those who ignore can tabs miss what are there.

However allot of heavely hunted Places usually produce the most nickels because of this
