After each of my detecting outings I throw my clad into a plastic bin that I have on my work bench. It's been about 19 months, but it finally filled up and it is time to take it to the bank. Fortunately, the credit union I am a member of has a coin counting machine that we can use for free. (Basically it's a Coinstar with no fees).

I was looking at the pile of clad and trying to guess how much it would total. That's when I thought that it would be kind of fun and interesting to see how close someone could come to guessing how much is there.

So, here is a contest. Take a look at the pictures below of the pile of clad. Come up with your best guess as to how much it will total, and respond to this thread with your answer. Please, only one guess per person. I will take all guesses that are given before Tuesday, 10-07-14 at 11:59 pm, PST. Whoever comes closest to the actual total amount will get a little prize. I'll send the winner a few older coins, including a 1914s Barber dime, a 1901 Liberty head "V" nickel, and an 1898 Indian head penny. Nothing of significant value, but this is just for fun anyway.

I know in the pile there are a few dollar coins. Otherwise it's quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies including zincs.

And here is what I'll send the winner.

Good luck!

151.14 Only because someone else guessed within .12 of my first guess. Nice pile of clad. Where is the photo of the pile of Silver you were sure to have found along with all the clad? Very interesting way to share your finds. I like it! Don

For the time it took me to pull all of that clad out of the ground, I managed to find 57 silvers. Not a real good ratio, but it makes each of the silvers that much more enjoyable to find.

I said earlier on my post that I think the amount was around $400.00, and that is the amount that I am saying that it is, $400.00

Nice of you to hold such a contest :) Similar looking to a pile I had last year, just not sure of the quarter to penny ratio you have lingering in there. I'll say $220.13.
