I think this dime was a coinstar find awhile back and I found it just sitting in a pile of miscellaneous coins....so I looked it up...1968 was a transitional year....some dimes were nickel which a magnet will pick up...some were 50% silver which a magnet will not pick up....turns out to be 50 % silver....I'll add it to my silver pile.

I like it when that happens. IIRC, a little under half of the '68's were silver.

I've found three 1968 Canadian dimes. One passed the magnet test (confirmed silver), two did not. Considering the small sample size, this is about what I'd expect.

It was a nice surprise....I get the same feeling with 1942 war nickels...seeing the mint mark on top of the dome....only some of the 42's have silver....
