Hello Everyone

There's an old (early 19th century) canal near the home of my grandmother. I'm heading down to her place for the holidays and I was thinking about trying to get permission to hunt along its banks. The canal used a tow path (it looks quite eroded on Google Earth) and I was wondering if the canal might produce some old coins.

Does anyone have experience hunting a site like this?

I have hunted irrigation canals here in Boise, Idaho, and there is lots of coins, especially under the bridges. I don't know about older canals that had the barges towed by mules, but I think it might be really good. Good luck! Niffler
