Cannonball? Gotta know

OK folks, I just registered after many years of browsing your wonderful finds. To date, I haven't been as fortunate as many of you. My finds have been mainly clad coins. However, 2 months back a friend of mine said I could search his property where he was building a new house. It is close to Charleston, SC on an old plantation near the river. My first reaction, it was a cannonball, but after researching and reading on the internet, I see it could be many things. So here I am. I will ask you fine folks who read this site to help me out. Cannonball or ??

Pre-electrolysis it weighed about 34lbs (digital bath room scale, nothing scientific) and is approx. 6.25" in dia. I have not weighed it since cleaned

I don't know,but the cannonball experts will want to know the diameter of the ball,and the weight. Can you post that info?

Could well have been bar shot. The hole was for the chain attachment.

Sorry I should have continued on and read the weight. Yes it is a 32lber probably CS with the casting flaw (that is in the hole). It is common for CS shells to have this. I have a 6lber made from the Vicksburg foundry with a very distinct cavity. Thanks,
